Internationale Tagung Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI 2015). WI 2015 will be held in Osnabrück, Germany, from March 4-6, 2015.

Abstract:
Organizational information technology (IT) standards have become increasingly important for companies. However, insights from practice indicate that employees tend to violate these standards raising the need for governance and management mechanisms to successfully implement them in the organization. The literature reveals a lack of research on the governance of organizational IT standards. Drawing on this finding, our research aims at identifying the factors that influence an employee’s deviant behavior towards organizational IT standards. For that purpose, we derive a conceptual model deductively from literature, supplemented by an interview study. Future research will validate this model using quantitative methods. Our work enriches both the IS research and the practitioner bodies of knowledge. First, we bridge the gap of knowledge in regarding an employee’s deviant behavior towards organizational IT standard. Second, we provide valuable insights for organizations by providing starting points to improve their standardization efforts.
